Rheumatology & Immunology department is the 1st and only unit in a government tertiary care teaching institute in Punjab for last two decades. A huge number of patients from all over Punjab as well other provinces are referred for treatment of rheumatological diseases. Undergraduate and postgraduate medical students have unique opportunity to experience a wide and diverse variety of common and rare diseases, and their managements according to international guidelines which is an invaluable experience for their training and further experience. This department is offering a comprehensive teaching & training program. It is fully recognized by College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan for FCPS in Rheumatology and has the honor of producing first FCPS in Rheumatology from a tertiary care institute in Punjab. This department is also running an MD program in Rheumatology which is recognized by University of Punjab and University of Health Sciences Lahore and candidates are completing their training. This unit is actively involved in various clinical research ventures at both national and international levels and enjoys an unmatched reputation for its dedicated services. A dedicated indoor facility comprising of sixteen bed, first of its kind in Pakistan, was commissioned last year. This unit includes a separate infusion center and procedure room as well. The vision is to deliver not only best of the services to masses and training of doctors to fulfil the deficiency of the human resources in this specialty but also to provide awareness about the revolutionary advancements in improving outcomes which once thought to be untreatable diseases.
